The K CARE Team is a collaborative, multidisciplinary group that works together to identify, assess, and support community members who are struggling or are engaging in concerning behaviors. Our goal is to intervene, assist, and provide comprehensive support to students experiencing challenges and/or exhibiting threatening or concerning behaviors.
Anyone can make a referral to the CARE team about a student. This can be done by either emailing Care@kzoo.edu or reaching out to any of the CARE team members (found at the bottom of K CARE Team).
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns about a student.
It’s getting cold out there….like really cold.
Students in need of warm winter outerwear – coats, gloves, hats, scarves, etc., should check out the Winter Warming Station located inside Hicks Student Center in the Barrett Student Leadership Suite – near Student Activities and the Intercultural Center. Please take what you need to stay safe and warm this winter.
If you have winter clothing you would like to donate to this program, please contact Haley Mangette at Haley.Mangette@kzoo.edu or 269.337.7460.
Do you have unused meal swipes you’d like to share? Or are you in need of extra support with meals?
If you answered “yes” to either question, please remember that Hungry Hornets, as part of the Basic Needs program at K, allows students to donate meal swipes they won’t use to a meal bank. These donated meals, in turn, are provided to students who may need assistance ensuring adequate nutrition. To donate or to request meals, please complete this online form.
The Hungry Hornets program also has a refrigerator stocked with “to go” meals – these meals are made fresh each day and utilize food otherwise destined for compost. These meals are designed to support students who can benefit from some help meeting daily nutrition needs and are available in the fridge in Hicks 110.

As colder weather comes to campus, please stop by Student Development in the Hicks Student Center if you are in need of some winter outerwear. We have a limited selection of gently used winter jackets, hats, scarves, gloves, boots, etc. These are available free to students who need them. Please stop by Stu Dev (open 8a – 5p, M-F) to grab the gear you need to stay warm.
If you have extra winter clothing you would like to donate, please drop it off at Stu Dev. We are especially in need of larger sizes and men’s clothing.
Student Development is collecting the following items for our Winter Warming Station. These items can be homemade or manufactured.
These items will be available for students to pick up throughout the remainder of the fall term or winter term.
Have extra clothes hangers? We’ll be happy to take those too!
Donated items can be dropped off at Student Development, 2nd floor of Hicks Student Center.
