LandSea 2026 Leader Applications now OPEN
Application DEADLINE: March 20th
APPLY HERE: 2026 LandSea Leader Application
We are looking for students to lead the incoming class of 2030 to K on the Landsea program. LandSea is an optional, outdoor pre-orientation program for Kalamazoo College students that occurs before first-year orientation. Over the past 50 years, more than 2,000 students have used LandSea as a way to acclimate to college life and build support networks before beginning their first term of school. We now offer three distinct trip options with varying degrees of length & difficulty to increase accessibility to the program.
Student leaders are the backbone of the LandSea program, and we’re encouraging you to apply 🙂 Here’s what you need to know:
- You do NOT need previous outdoor or LandSea experience to apply to be a leader – we train all of our leaders to prepare you for the program you’ll be leading.
- This is a paid position and the time commitment over the summer varies depending on the position and program that you apply for.
- Personal and professional development opportunity: the trainings & experiences gained as a Landsea Leader directly translate into the real-world setting once you return to campus & begin life after K. Helping you to build your resume and gain valuable working experience. Whatever your path may be after you leave campus, you’ll have a stand out resume & lived experiences to help you navigate the world around you
FAQ: You can find more information about the position on our website or by reaching out directly to Outdoor.Programs@kzoo.edu with any questions
You all are some of the best representatives to share your experience and guide the next class of K Students! If you’re interested in growing in your leadership skills, gaining opportunities to facilitate and teach, making new friends of your own while helping first year students develop bonds, sharing about your own experience at K, and spending time outside, then this position would be a great fit for you!
If you are interested in the position or want to learn more, stop by the Outdoor Programs office in Trowbridge Hall, or reach out to us on email or Teams as well.
